Drumsticks

By Seema Sharma

Drumsticks (non-musical melody) is lavishness added to your garden.

I have one in my space, during ongoing lockdown period, plus groceries shortage, this was really helpful in making delicious food, as in sambhar. Where there are days scarcely I see greenery some where , this tree and it’s foliage gives me immense pleasure. Secondarily, an abandoned plot besides my garden has such vegetation and that combines like clouds during rainy days with those water droplets are truly eye soothing.

Veggies

It’s touch is such gleaming that may actually not care to peel it, peeling leaves it with a light green to white surface, I usually deep fry it for trying it with other vegetables as mix. Or it is just boiled with curry preparation.
My childhood memories are so broad about it , I was living in Nirala Nagar, Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, my mother (84, on 5th July ) is so well versed in cooking, those days were of stoves using wood and other fodders, she used to prepare it with rakhiya bari, a spicy mate with boiled rice.

I am so fond of that dish that I too had prepared it a lot more time, at my in-law’s house and I love to know their reaction, I remember I had two fully grown trees outside my house always loaded in between February to April, my father uses to distribute it in bundles from free hand in the whole colony.

Again when I see it in my garden in Raipur at my in-law’s house, I clearly vision about my ‘taste',  in this backdrop I remember some bullies too living around somewhere our home who use to shot flowers, I laugh how bad I feel due to such ‘huge’ loss, we would be unable to give them in it’s grown form. My mother used to tell me it’s extremely beneficial for skin and it strengthens hair.
Whole of it has certain or other  uses my brother some way back said me “Seema , I consulted with its specialist for any home remedies for hypertension problems to which he hesitantly told for  Sahjan leaves, I too understand why they would prefer for such desi tricks rather than their tactics.”

That brush-tailed company:-
To adore it or chase it, was my cool experience, they loved a lot more those flowers growing at high branches. Ram-Sakha, once contributing at Ram Setu, now in my garden lives hand in hand.
Yeah! the flower lovers, hard to capture, moreover this season, I had no photos for them, besides one:
